Booking & Basics
How do I book an appointment at Opal & Ivy Salon?
Booking is open online anytime through our booking page — pick your service, day, and time, and you are set. If you are not sure which service you need, book the free consultation first, or call us at (225) 450-5956 and we will help you choose.
Where is Opal & Ivy Salon located?
We are inside The Suites at Long Farm, at 14660 Village Market St in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is a quiet, private salon suite — no loud, crowded salon floor — so your appointment feels like a little escape from your day.
Are you taking new clients?
Yes — Opal & Ivy is welcoming new clients now. If it is your first color appointment with us, a free consultation is a great first step so we can look at your hair, talk through your goals, and build the right plan before your full service.
Do you offer consultations, and what do they cost?
Consultations are free. We look at your hair’s health and history, talk about what you want, and give you an honest plan and price before any color touches your hair. For big changes and color corrections, a consultation is the best way to start.
What services does Opal & Ivy specialize in?
Our specialty is lived-in, dimensional color — balayage, blondes, and brunettes that grow out soft and natural. We also offer full, partial, and two-thirds highlights, all-over color, root coverage, toner and gloss, haircuts, blowouts, event styling and updos, and Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatments.
Color Services
What is lived-in balayage?
Lived-in balayage is color that is hand-painted and blended so there is no harsh line as it grows out. It gives you that soft, sun-kissed brightness with much less upkeep than traditional color — most clients go months between full appointments and just refresh the tone in between.
What is the difference between balayage and highlights?
Highlights use foils to brighten hair from root to ends in neat sections, giving an all-over brighter look. Balayage is painted on freehand, so the brightness is placed where the sun would hit and melts into your natural color at the root. Balayage grows out softer; highlights give more lift and a brighter overall result.
How much does balayage cost?
Our Lived-In Balayage is $247 on the booking menu. Your exact price is confirmed at your free consultation, because thick, long, or previously colored hair can need more time and product. You will always know the price before we start.
How long does balayage last, and how often do I need it redone?
Because balayage grows out with no hard line, most clients go three to six months between full balayage appointments. A toner or gloss visit every eight to twelve weeks keeps the color fresh and shiny in between, so your hair never hits that grown-out, brassy stage.
What is the difference between full, partial, and two-thirds highlights?
It is about how much of your head is foiled. Partial highlights ($177) brighten the top and around your face. Two-thirds highlights ($227) add brightness through most of the head. Full highlights ($257) foil the whole head for the brightest, most all-over result. If you are not sure, book a free consultation and we will match the service to your goal.
What is a toner or gloss, and do I need one?
A toner or gloss ($102) is the finishing step that sets your exact shade — it can cool down brassiness, add warmth, and give your hair that glossy, just-done shine. It is also the perfect in-between appointment: a gloss refresh makes your whole color look new again without a full color service.
Can you fix box dye or a hair color that went wrong?
Yes — that is what our Color Correction service is for, and it starts with a free consultation so we can see your hair in person. Be honest about everything that has been on your hair; that history is what lets us fix it safely. Some corrections take more than one session, and we will tell you the full plan and price up front.
Why does my blonde keep going brassy, and how do I stop it?
Blonde hair picks up warm, brassy tones from minerals in water, heat styling, sun, and fading toner. The fix is a toner or gloss refresh every eight to twelve weeks, plus the right home care — we will show you exactly what to use for your hair so your blonde stays clean and bright between visits.
Hair Health & Smoothing
What is a Brazilian Blowout, and how long does it last?
A Brazilian Blowout ($275) is a smoothing treatment that takes away frizz, cuts your drying and styling time way down, and leaves your hair smooth and shiny — a lifesaver in Louisiana humidity. With the right home care, results last up to about twelve weeks, and it is safe on colored hair.
Will coloring my hair damage it?
Lightening is a chemical process, so we take hair health seriously. Before any big service we check your hair’s strength and history, and if your hair is not ready, we will tell you honestly and build a staged plan instead. Healthy hair always comes first — that is how your color ends up looking its best.
What should I do before my color appointment?
Bring inspiration photos of what you love — and what you do not. Arrive with clean, dry hair unless we tell you otherwise, and be ready to share your color history, including any box dye. The more honest the history, the better and safer your result.
Cuts, Styling & Your Visit
Can I get just a haircut, without color?
Of course. A women’s haircut is $59, a child cut is $36, and a bang trim is $17 — perfect for keeping your shape fresh between color visits. Every cut is finished so you leave looking polished, not just trimmed.
Do you style hair for weddings and events?
Yes — we offer a Full Updo ($69), Partial Updo ($57), Event Style ($55), and a Luxury Blowout ($49) for a smooth, bouncy finish. Book ahead for weddings, photos, and special events so your time is reserved.
How long will my appointment take?
It depends on the service. Bang trims and blowouts are quick visits, while full color, highlights, and balayage are longer sessions — plan on a few hours for big color work. When you book, we will confirm your timing so you can plan your day, and your consultation gives you an exact idea before a full service.
How do I keep my color looking good at home?
Use salon-quality, color-safe shampoo and conditioner, turn down the hot tools when you can, and always use heat protection. A gloss refresh every couple of months keeps the tone and shine alive. At your appointment, ask for a simple home-care plan matched to your hair — taking care of it should be easy, not a second job.
